Well, this diet lasted about 4 days. I stayed ‘on program’ fairly well, having primarily large salads for lunch and dinner and fruit for snacks or ‘dessert’. This diet, in general, I found, was just not very ’do-able’ for me. I like a variety of foods, but on this diet I felt very limited and didn’t have much to look forward to. A lot of my favorite foods were frowned upon. (Maybe that’s why I have a weight problem in the first place!) I did learn a lot about the ‘nutrient density’ of foods, however. I still will try to eat healthier (after the holidays) and watch my portions, but for now, I’m going to enjoy life!
Well, I guess you could say I started my nutritarian way of eating today. I thought since it’s November 1st, and the beginning of a new month, it’s as good a time as any. I completed my Eat Right America ‘Nutrition Prescription’ online and it returned 59 pages of information to help me achieve my “‘ideal weight, health, and vitality”. It actually showed that MY diet is worse than the “Standard American Diet”. So, I’m off to the grocery store as I’ll need to have a well-stocked kitchen with the proper foods for this plan. Eating all the salads, fruits, and vegetables will be fairly easy, but passing on the animal products (and simple carbohydrates), is going to be somewhat challenging for me.
Well, today I finished listening to Eat For Health, the 5-CD Audio Book set, as well as finished reading the Eat Right America food scoring guide. In the next few days I’ll go online and get my Nutrition Prescription and finish watching Dr. Fuhrman’s ‘Eating Like a Nutritarian’ DVD. Then with my shopping list in hand, I’ll head for the market to load up on fruits and vegetables! Come Monday, (don’t most of us like to start our diets on Monday?) I’ll get on that scale and start my road back to health ‘again’! With at least 30 – 40 pounds to lose, I’m hoping this will not be as hard as with other ‘diets’. Wish me luck!
No, actually, I’m in the process of reading the books from the ‘Eat Right America’ kit and listening to the CD’s. I’ve already come to the conclusion that this program is really going to be tough for me since I’m a bonafied carb-junkie. I know I REALLY have to do something about the way I’m eating now though, so I’m going to give it my best. Being an ‘all-or-none’ person is very frustrating. I’ll follow a diet plan ‘to the letter’ or I’ll go off of it big time. I really am looking forward to starting on this one though, because I know the end result can only be better health.
Well, it’s time to stop procrastinating ! Today I received my ‘Eat Right America’ diet & fitness program. (Not only have I been slow to start my blog, but slow to get back on my diet program as well). After gaining back 25 to 30 pounds during the last few months, I’ve decided it’s time to steer away from these destructive habits. You see, I’ve been a yo-yo dieter all my life and in the posts to follow, I will elaborate on my various diet successes and failures. Some of you will certainly know what I’m talking about; others won’t have a clue. Hopefully I can keep myself honest if I periodically blog about my ‘journey’ to wellness. Wish me luck!
